what is die-casting ?

Casting is a general term for a process, which can be divided into sand casting and die casting.Today we will mainly talk about what is die-casting.
Generally ,The die casting process is to melt the metal into liquid at high temperature, then pushed the liquid into the metal mold frame through the die casting machine. After cooling, the metal subject with the same shape as the mold is obtained.

Now we can see that die casting process can help us to manufacture various parts with complex structure or appearance.

When discussing die-casting production, we have to mention the production of die-casting molds. This step is the beginning of the entire production process and is a crucial one. Homiest, with many years of experience in the industry, understands the importance of mold design and production. So, what is the mold production process like?

CNC Machining

This is a machining center that produces complex patterns on die castings.

After the production of each mold component is completed, we need to assemble the components. Then we came to the Homiest mold assembly center, where we assembled multiple mold parts into a complete mold assembly.

Once the mold is completed, we can start die casting production. And the die casting production is mainly divided into several steps

1. Material Preparation: Use metals (such as aluminum alloys or zinc alloys) as the main raw materials. These metals are melted in a furnace at high temperatures to form a molten liquid.
2. Die Casting: Inject the molten metal into the preheated mold under high pressure using a die-casting machine. The pressure ensures the liquid fills every detail of the mold cavity.
3. Cooling and Demolding: Allow the molten metal in the mold to cool and solidify, then open the mold to take out the formed furniture part.

The die casting machine has produced the die castings work but it is not over yet. It still need to do Post-Processing: Perform processes like trimming (removing excess material), polishing (improving surface smoothness), painting or electroplating (enhancing appearance and corrosion resistance) on the part to get the final die-cast furniture product.
